Classes are held once per week beginning in mid-August and ending sometime in May. All classes participate in our annual recital in May. Age-appropriate choreography and costuming are guaranteed. We strongly recommend enrollment in a ballet class in addition to any other classes.
BALLET
Ballet is a classical dance form characterized by precise movements, graceful gestures, and intricate footwork. It is the foundation for many other forms of dance. All ballet classes are taught using proper French terminology and the Cecchetti method, which emphasizes balance, control, and fluidity in movements.

In Mommy and Me, dancers will develop fine and gross motor skills through creative movement in a playful environment. We work with parents to make dancers comfortable to eventually take a class on their own.

TAP
Tap dance is a rhythmic dance form characterized by the percussive sounds created by metal plates attached to the dancer’s shoes. Dancers use their feet to produce intricate, often syncopated rhythms and patterns, frequently incorporating elements of jazz music and improvisation. Tap teaches rhythm, timing, and body awareness, and builds confidence.

JAZZ
A form of dance that is dynamic and expressive, drawing inspiration from African, Caribbean, and European dance traditions. Jazz is energetic and fun, celebrating individuality, freedom of movement and emotional expression while also focusing on technique. Jazz is enormously helped by a background in ballet. Dancers will work on flexibility, turns, kicks, and jumps as well as combinations throughout the year.

Intermediate-level Jazz will work on double pirouettes, technique preparation for a la seconde turns, right and left leaps, classic Jazz technique, and more. Dancers will be placed in the correct level according to instructor observations.

CONTEMPORARY & LYRICAL
Contemporary and lyrical styles focus on movement exploration and are emotional dance styles. Along with ballet, these styles encompass elements of modern and jazz as well as each other. They also consist of improvisational dance. Contemporary dance incorporates elements of modern for a more sharp and visually contrasting style, whereas lyrical can incorporate classic jazz elements and demonstrates softer, more flowing movements.

HIP HOP
Introduction to age-appropriate Hip Hop dance. We concentrate on the foundations of hip hop, its basic movements, rules, terminology, choreography, and culture. Hip Hop classes will also emphasize musicality, creativity, and self-expression.
